Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare has reflected on his missed opportunities in Genk's 2-1 loss to KV Kortrijk on Saturday, expressing his commitment to improving his finishing skills.

Genk, in pursuit of their sixth consecutive league victory, initially led 1-0 before KV Kortrijk mounted a dramatic comeback to secure all three points, thwarting the four-time Belgian Pro League champions' bid for a vital away win.

Arokodare appeared visibly frustrated after the game, having missed several opportunities to help his team get back into the match and potentially secure a win.

Arokodare reflects on missed chances and the path forward

Following KRC Genk's disappointing 2-1 loss to KV Kortrijk, Arokodare took the opportunity to assess his performance and the team's shortcomings.

He acknowledged the weight of expectations placed upon him, stating to Voetbal Primeur, The team is counting on me to score. Whether I start or come on as a substitute, it is still my job to score.

“I expect that of myself. I didn't score, so I have to be strict with myself. Chances like this cost us points. You saw that today.

“We were unlucky in the finishing. The keeper also played a very strong match. But even then, I keep getting chances, but I also have to finish them. I have to work on my finishing. I have to work on that in the coming weeks.”

The 23-year-old missed three significant opportunities, recording three shots on target and three off target. So far this season, Arokodare has netted six goals in 10 Belgian Pro League appearances, averaging 82 minutes of play per game.
