The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano, where both teams found the back of the net from the penalty spot.

Viktor Gyokeres broke the deadlock after David Hancko brought him down in the first half.

Julian Alvarez levelled the scores in the second half after Ben White handled the ball in his own penalty area.

The Argentine dispatched his strike with vim, leaving Arsenal’s David Raya rooted to the spot.

Arsenal won their fixture over the weekend, sealing an emphatic 3-0 win over Fulham. The Cottagers were unable to handle the pressure from Mikel Arteta’s side.
