Rio 2016 Olympics highest goalscorer, Nils Petersen has voiced his admiration for Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface, recognizing the Nigerian’s remarkable impact in the Bundesliga since his arrival.

Boniface joined Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2023 from Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, following a wonderful Europa League campaign where he caught the eye by scoring against Leverkusen in the quarterfinals.

The German side secured the forward for a reported fee of €21.7 million, and the Nigeria international has since flourished in the Bundesliga, playing a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s domestic success.

Petersen enthusiastically expresses admiration for Boniface

Boniface’s all-around offensive prowess has made him one of the most exciting talents in German football.

Petersen, who was the top scorer at the 2016 Olympic Games, expressed his admiration, admitting that the Leverkusen forward is a player no defender wants to face.

“I have to say that I am a fan of Victor Boniface. As an opponent, you just don’t want to play against him,” Petersen told fussball.news.

When asked to explain what makes the striker so special, Petersen added: “He hurts, he’s fast, he can go one-on-one, he can score goals. He has everything.”

Boniface’s strong start to the 2024-2025 Bundesliga campaign has seen him score four goals, with only a handful of players, including Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, outscoring him in the early stages.
