Chibuike Nwaiwu: How much Super Eagles star will earn if he joins Fulham

Published on by

Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu has been linked with a move to the English Premier League, with two clubs interested, Afrik-Foot reports.

The 23-year-old center-back has attracted a lot of attention in the past year. He joined Austrian club Wolfsberger from Enyimba two years ago.

Then, after an impressive season, he was linked with several clubs from the top five leagues last summer — sides like PSG, Marseille, and Leeds United.

He did not get his move in the summer, but he eventually joined Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor in the January transfer window.

Despite joining the club midway through the campaign, Nwaiwu quickly adapted to life in Turkey and became a key player for the Black Sea Storm.

As a result, he is in the middle of another transfer tussle this summer. Nwaiwu has been linked with Fulham all summer. Then, just last week, Crystal Palace emerged as a possible destination, as they are searching for a replacement for Chelsea-bound Maxence Lacroix.

But as it stands, Fulham appears to be the likely destination, as they are close to agreeing on terms with Trabzonspor for the transfer.

In the meantime, the Cottagers have already agreed on personal terms with Nwaiwu. In this article, we look at how much the Super Eagles star is expected to earn if he moves to Fulham.

How Much Will Fulham Pay Chibuike Nwaiwu?

Fulham have agreed on personal terms with Nwaiwu, and if he makes the move, he will get a significant pay bump.

According to a Turkish journalist, Fulham have agreed on a €2.5 million per year deal for a four-year contract.

This is nearly triple his current salary, as he currently earns nearly €900k per year at Trabzonspor, alongside massive incentives. It is also aside from the bonuses he will get at the club. Per week, Nwaiwu will earn €48,000, which is just slightly below what compatriot Calvin Bassey earns.

For now though, the Super Eagles star has not agreed on terms to make the switch to Craven Cottage. But with Fulham desperate to wrap up the deal soon, they might reach a conclusion in the coming days.
