Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche could return to playing for Getafe next season when his loan at Crystal Palace expires, Afrik-Foot reports.
Uche joined Crystal Palace from Getafe last summer following an impressive debut campaign in Spain. The Super Eagles star arrived on a season-long loan deal that included a conditional obligation-to-buy clause.
At the time he joined the club, it was expected that he would become a key player for the Eagles, especially after they sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal.

However, the move has not turned out the way he would have liked. Uche has not started a single Premier League match this season; all 14 of his appearances have come off the bench, often resulting in meager minutes.
Even in the Conference League, he was omitted from the squad for the knockout stages.
As it stands, the 22-year-old midfielder is expected to return to his parent club, Getafe, at the end of the campaign, barring a major change in circumstances.
But even then, Uche’s future remains uncertain because Getafe are cash-strapped due to La Liga’s stringent financial regulations.

In fact, they were forced to let Uche leave initially due to these financial struggles. In their accounts, Uche’s deal was recorded as a sale, which provided the financial leeway necessary to register their players for the season.
However, now that the deal will be treated as a returning loan, it will negatively impact their books going forward. This could also hinder their ability to keep Uche long-term.
There might, however, be light at the end of the tunnel for the Spanish side.
Why Christantus Uche Might Play For Getafe Next Season
For Christantus Uche to stay at Getafe, the club would need to prove their financial health to La Liga. This would typically be difficult without making one or two significant player sales.

However, Los Azulones might find a way through. This is because they have a strong chance of securing a continental qualification spot. Getafe currently sit eighth in La Liga with 41 points from 31 games.
They are just three points behind Celta Vigo for a Conference League spot and five behind Real Betis for a Europa League berth.
If Los Azulones can sneak into one of those continental spots, the resulting revenue would give them a massive financial boost. In that scenario, they would likely be able to afford to keep Uche.
Notably, Uche is a particular favorite of coach Jose Bordalas. If he returns, he is expected to be welcomed back and reinstated as a key player for the club.
Getafe have a decent run of fixtures over the next few weeks, and they will be hoping to string together solid results to claim an unprecedented continental finish.
