Samuel Chukwueze impact not enough as Fulham fall to Bournemouth

Samuel Chukwueze finally made his mark in Fulham colours after getting involved in a goal for the first time since joining on loan from AC Milan last month.

The Nigeria winger was introduced in the 67th minute of Fulham’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Friday night and needed just three minutes to make an impact.

His clever pass released Anglo-Beninese left-back Ryan Sessegnon, who finished clinically to put Marco Silva’s side ahead. However, the London club went on to suffer a 3-1 defeat at the Vitality Stadium.

How did Samuel Chukwueze perform against Bournemouth?

Chukwueze featured for 23 minutes and looked lively, though his contribution was not enough to preserve Fulham’s lead. In that time he recorded 22 touches, completed 13 of his 17 passes, created two key chances including one big opportunity, and won two of his four ground duels. He also attempted three dribbles, with one successful.

The performance suggested signs of promise from the 2015 U-17 World Cup winner, who appears to be gradually settling into English football. With more minutes, he could grow into a valuable attacking option for Silva’s squad.

Next up for Chukwueze is the international break, where he will return to Africa alongside Fulham teammates Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi for Nigeria’s decisive World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.
