Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has complained about the physical toll of playing for Nigeria during the recent international break, Afrik-Foot reports.
Onyeka was one of the top performers for Coventry as they claimed a hard-fought 3-2 win over Derby County at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Friday. He scored the opening goal and put in a solid shift for the Sky Blues in the middle of the park.
That performance was just the latest addition to a catalogue of brilliant displays he has produced since his loan transfer from Brentford in January.

It also came on the back of international duty with Nigeria. Recall that he featured in the Super Eagles’ games against Iran and Jordan. Against Team Melli, he saw one minute of action, but against the Al-Nashama of Jordan, he played a demanding 81 minutes.
Meanwhile, speaking after Coventry’s win over Derby County, the former FC Midtjylland man complained about the stress of combining national team football with club commitments.

Onyeka was involved in Nigeria’s games during the international break, yet he still went on to play 90 minutes for Coventry on Friday night. He noted that he was fatigued but felt he had to keep going, adding that he was happy to have performed well against Derby County.
”I’m tired. I played on Tuesday night, traveled, came back, had a bit of training on Thursday, and played today. It’s a proud moment for me to represent my country, but traveling around is tiring. You just have to keep going,” Onyeka said.
”I need it [rest]. I need to rest well and focus so I’m ready to go again on Monday.”
He also spoke about his goal against Derby County, which was his first for the club since joining in January.
”It was a special one. I saw the keeper off his line and decided to chip him. I’m really happy I got my first goal for Coventry; I’m really excited about it.”
”I had to go forward instead of backward because I felt we had more men on the right. I played a one-two, continued my run, got the ball, and got the goal.”
The win over Derby County takes Coventry to 83 points after 40 games. They currently sit at the summit of the Championship table with an 11-point gap between them and second-placed Millwall.
They now need to win just three of their last six league games to seal promotion to the Premier League.
