David Okereke to Benevento: Deal breakdown – how much is Nigerian striker’s transfer worth?

Published on by

Nigerian attacker David Okereke has completed his transfer to Italian Serie B club Benevento, Afrik-Foot reports.

The 28-year-old marksman was a free agent following the expiration of his contract with fellow Serie B club Cremonese. As a result, he was linked with several clubs, especially in Turkey. Genclerbirligi, Kocaelispor, and Sampdoria were touted as potential destinations, but none of the talks materialized.

Now, after weeks of speculation, Okereke has joined Benevento. The club believes he is a player who can help them immensely, hence their decision to swoop in for him.

Breakdown of David Okereke’s Benevento Move

Since David Okereke was a free agent, Benevento did not have to pay a transfer fee for him to make the move.

He is currently valued at €1.4 million on Transfermarkt, though. So if Benevento were going to pay a transfer fee, it would have been in that region.

The 28-year-old marksman signed a two-year deal that will keep him at the Serie B side until the summer of 2028. But there is also the option of an extra year, which Benevento can eventually trigger.

However, for now, it is difficult to confirm the Nigerian’s salary at Benevento. He was believed to be earning around €770,000 per year when he was at Cremonese. That amounts to €14,800 weekly.

At Gaziantep, where the Nigerian had a short loan stint, he was also earning close to that figure.

As a result, it is expected that Okereke will earn something close to what he previously made.

Benevento rates him highly, so he has to deliver this season. The club is targeting a return to Serie A, and Okereke is one of the key players they are banking on.
