New Super Eagles boy Femi Azeez has admitted that his stunning start with Nigeria has only increased his desire to reach the Premier League, Afrik-Foot reports.
Azeez’s comments, though, could unsettle Championship side Millwall ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old winger enjoyed a dream Super Eagles debut after scoring twice in Nigeria’s win over Zimbabwe, helping Eric Chelle’s side secure a place in the Unity Cup final against Jamaica in London.
Azeez was handed a major role in the attack, operating in the position usually occupied by 2024 African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman, and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. His pace, direct running and movement caused constant problems for Zimbabwe throughout the contest.

The former Reading player arrived in the Nigeria camp after an impressive 2025/26 campaign with Millwall. He produced 19 goal contributions in 35 Championship matches and emerged as one of the most exciting attacking players in England’s second division.
Despite his excellent individual season, Millwall failed to secure promotion to the Premier League. The London club narrowly missed out on the automatic promotion places before suffering painful playoff disappointment against Hull City in the semifinal.
Azeez’s performances, though, earned applause from fans and pundits. He was named in the Championship Team of the Season before receiving his first-ever invitation to the Nigerian national team.

Femi Azeez: Premier League ambition grows stronger
Speaking ahead of Nigeria’s Unity Cup final clash against Jamaica, Femi Azeez admitted that performing well on the international stage has pushed him to chase even bigger targets in his career.
“I had a good season in the Championship and obviously, to do it on the international stage as well was just that next step up,” Azeez told Sky Sports.
“Whenever I achieve something, I’m always hungry for more. I’m never satisfied with what I’ve got.
“I’m always going to work towards that next level because I’m ambitious as a footballer and as a person, and I want to reach as high of a level as possible.
“The Premier League is obviously the pinnacle of football. I’d love to play in the Premier League. So obviously, working hard, I’m going to do whatever I can to get there.”

Those comments are likely to increase speculation surrounding Azeez’s future, especially with several Premier League clubs monitoring his situation closely.
Ipswich Town are believed to be among the strongest admirers of the Nigerian winger, with manager Kieran McKenna reportedly identifying him as a major transfer target. Reports claim Ipswich recently submitted a £20 million offer, but Millwall rejected the proposal as they value the player closer to £25m-£30m.
Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on developments, while Brighton & Hove Albion, Bournemouth, Everton, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Fulham have all shown interest after his outstanding season in the Championship.
Highflying Sunderland have also entered the race following Azeez’s explosive Super Eagles debut against Zimbabwe.
Millwall signed Azeez from Reading in the summer of 2024, and the winger remains under contract at The Den until June 30, 2028.
