Nigeria-eligible England right-winger Femi Azeez has been tipped for a step-up to the English Premier League by Manchester United’s record goalscorer Wayne Rooney, Afrik Foot reports.
Azeez was born in the United Kingdom to a Nigerian father and a Spanish mother, while his younger brother, Miguel, plays for Morecambe, although he started his career with Arsenal’s Hale End Academy.
The 24-year-old scored 11 goals and provided seven assists in the Championship for Millwall, but his efforts couldn’t secure top-flight status for Alex Neil’s side as they crashed out to Hull City in the play-offs semi-final.

Wayne Rooney backs Femi Azeez for English Premier League move
While Millwall’s hopes of playing English top-flight football have been suspended until next season at least, Azeez’s case doesn’t have to be the same.
Wayne Rooney, speaking on the Overlap, revealed he’s been impressed with the abilities of the fleet-footed winger and believes his talent is worth scooping up by a club in the Premier League, as he’ll easily slot in.
“I think Femi Azeez is one of those players who can step up,” the 40-year-old said.
“He’s a player I’ve watched, and I really like him. He’s an intelligent football player, and I think to go and play in the Premier League, you need that intelligence to be able to find space to take the ball and be a match-winner.
“I think he’s one player who’s more suited to the Premier League.”

UEFA Europa League finalists Aston Villa are reported to have registered their interest in the Super Eagles-eligible attacker.
As per Aston Villa News, Unai Emery’s side are holding off for an official for the Championship Team of the Year winger until they part ways with Leon Bailey.
Former Villa and Millwall icon scout Bryan King also believes Azeez has Premier League quality, even if he knows his former side will command huge fees for the winger.
“I would expect plenty of clubs to come in for him and even bid £30m, and that wouldn’t be a silly figure.
“He’s a talented player, and he’s the sort of player that Aston Villa need.
“He’s got a trick, and after his performances this season, he’s certainly put himself in the frame for a move. Signing for Villa would be a great move for him and would be a great payday for Millwall,” the 79-year-old said.
