Turkish side Fenerbahçe are currently facing a standstill in contract negotiations with Bright Osayi-Samuel, as discussions have been postponed due to disagreements over salary demands.
The Nigeria international joined Fenerbahce in January 2021 and quickly rose to become a key player for the Turkish top-flight side. Since moving to Turkey, Osayi-Samuel has settled in seamlessly and excelled despite transitioning from winger to right-back.
With his current contract set to expire in June 2025, both the club and the player find themselves at an impasse in contract renewal negotiations, as Fenerbahçe is keen to retain his services.
Earlier reports indicated that the former Queens Park Rangers (QPR) player had requested to leave in the summer.
Contract negotiation details: Fenerbahçe and Osayi-Samuel
Turkish outlet Fanatik reports that Fenerbahçe has postponed negotiations with Osayi-Samuel, citing his salary demands as excessive.
The yellow-navy team is unwilling to offer more than €2 million, while Osayi-Samuel is seeking a four-year contract that includes a salary increase. This divergence in expectations has created a standstill in the negotiations, leaving both parties at an impasse.
In mid-March, he found himself embroiled in controversy when he and several teammates were involved in a post-match altercation with a pitch invader.
This incident prompted disciplinary proceedings from the league administration; however, he was ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing.
The 26-year-old has made three appearances for Fenerbahçe this season across all competitions, averaging 58 minutes of play per game.
Osayi-Samuel has previously been linked with moves to English clubs Southampton , Leeds United and Norwich City, as well as the French club RC Lens.
