Reports in the Spanish media indicate that La Liga outfit Alaves are considering a potential loan move for Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq as a replacement for Samu Omorodion at the end of the season.
Omorodion joined Alaves at the beginning of the season from Atletico Madrid and has been involved in 10 goals in 34 appearances for Alaves, scoring nine goals and providing one assist.
His performances have sparked a lot of interest in the 19-year-old, with him being linked to AS Roma or a return to Atletico.
With Omorodion's imminent departure, Alaves are keen on strengthening the depth of their squad with the Nigerian international, who has had a tumultuous season with Real Sociedad. Alaves manager Luis García Plaza is reportedly an admirer of Sadiq.
Sadiq's tenure at Real Sociedad has been plagued by disappointment since his €20 million transfer from Almeria in 2022. His contract with the San Sebastian outfit ends in 2028.
Shortly after his debut season began, he sustained a cruciate ligament injury, sidelining him for the entire campaign and causing him to miss 45 games.
Despite this major setback, Sadiq returned to action last summer and was reintegrated into the team.

However, the 27-year-old forward is still striving to regain his top form, having only started in 12 out of his 26 appearances for Real Sociedad this season. Sadiq has contributed three goals and provided one assist for the Txuri-Urdin.
With just three goals and one assist to his name, he appears to have slipped down the pecking order, with Mikel Oyarzabal and Sheraldo Becker receiving more playing time at centre-forward under coach Imanol Alguacil.
Unless there's a significant turnaround in Sadiq's performance, it's unlikely that his situation will improve come summer.
Which other clubs are interested in Sadiq's services?
In the past few weeks, Sadiq has been linked with a move to Almeria and Getafe. Getafe lost Enes Unal to Bournemouth this season, while Borja Mayoral is recovering from surgery, and Jaime Mata, at 35 is nearing the end of his career.
Earlier in April, Sadiq went on a pilgrimage to Mecca with his family and proudly shared this experience on his Instagram account, posting 10 files, including photos and videos.
In the second-to-last file, in an attempt to show a top-down perspective of the holy places, he was heard speaking with someone many believe to be El Assy of UD Almeria. After several hours of going viral, he deleted the post.

In the conversation, only a few seconds of Sadiq's voice can be heard, apparently trying to convince UD Almería to give him a play-in next summer and rescue him from the bad feelings he is experiencing at Real Sociedad, between injuries and a scoring drought.
It's worth remembering that after scoring 43 goals and 19 assists in 84 games with Almería, he became the most expensive signing in the history of Real Sociedad who deemed Sadiq the ideal replacement for Alexander Isak.
Meanwhile, according to Relevo, Sadiq has asked to leave the club this summer to gain enough playing time and save his dwindling career.
Why Umar Sadiq should seek a loan move away from Real Sociedad
At every club, there are players who find regualr football with the first-team hard to come by. It may be because of injuries, the success of their team-mates, or falling out of favour with the manager.
Lack of minutes on the field obviously hampers the development of players and derails their progress. It is for this reason why Sadiq should seek a loan move away from Real Sociedad to revive his career.
A loan move would provide Sadiq with an opportunity to play regular football and regain match fitness. This exposure is crucial for his development and could help him regain the form that made him a highly sought-after talent.
Despite his undeniable talent and previous contributions to the Super Eagles, Sadiq's lack of regular playing time at Real Sociedad could hinder his chances of securing a spot in the squad.

With just 12 starts in 26 appearances and limited minutes on the pitch, he may struggle to convince Finidi George of his readiness to compete at international level.
Also, the competition for places in the squad is fierce, with several other Nigerian forwards vying for selection.

George will undoubtedly be looking for players who are in peak form and fitness, ready to make a significant impact on the field during the qualifiers.
While Sadiq Umar remains a promising talent with the potential to contribute to the national team's success, his current situation at Real Sociedad may jeopardise his chances of representing Nigeria in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
As the squad selection draws nearer, all eyes will be on George as he evaluates his options and decides on the best lineup to lead Nigeria to victory on the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
