Reports from Turkey indicate that French giants Olympique Marseille have entered the race to secure the signature of Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Roberto De Zerbi's side has made an impressive start to the 2024/25 campaign, currently sitting third in the Ligue 1 table, just six points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Having scored 21 goals while conceding 11, Marseille's defensive vulnerabilities have prompted a search for reinforcements. This need for improvement has heightened speculation regarding their interest in Osayi-Samuel, a player who has caught the attention of the Italian manager.
Fenerbahçe are currently facing a standstill in contract negotiations with Osayi-Samuel as discussions have been postponed due to disagreements over salary demands.
The Nigeria international joined Fenerbahce in January 2021 and quickly rose to become a key player for the Turkish top-flight side. Since moving to Turkey, Osayi-Samuel has settled in seamlessly and excelled despite transitioning from winger to right-back.
With his current contract set to expire in June 2025, both the club and the player find themselves at an impasse in contract renewal negotiations, as Fenerbahçe are keen to retain his services.
Marseille faces competition for Osayi-Samuel amid contract negotiations
Fanatik further reports that Bright Osayi-Samuel, represented by his agent Stephen Beck, recently met with Fenerbahçe's sporting director, Mario Branco, to discuss the player's contract renewal.
Beck has requested an annual salary of €2.5 million for the 26-year-old, while Fenerbahçe’s current offer is €1.5 million.
This situation has intensified the interest from various clubs, including Galatasaray, Norwich City, and RC Lens.
With Marseille now in the mix, it remains to be seen whether they can meet the financial demands of the former Queens Park Rangers (QPR) man and his representative, potentially securing the talented winger for their squad.
Osayi-Samuel has made five appearances for Fenerbahçe this season, averaging 66 minutes of play per match.
