Galatasaray laugh off Osimhen break clause, ready to fight Chelsea, Juventus, Arsenal

Chelsea's pursuit of Victor Osimhen faces another complication, with Galatasaray signaling strong intent to retain the Nigerian forward beyond his current loan spell.

Galatasaray’s deputy chairman, İbrahim Hatipoğlu, has made it clear that the club is not only ruling out a January departure but also actively planning to keep Osimhen for the next season.

The Super Eagles striker joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli in early September after a last-minute move to Chelsea fell through on transfer deadline day.

While it is believed that Osimhen’s loan contract includes a January break clause, Hatipoğlu has rubbished those claims, emphasizing that the Nigerian forward is committed to Galatasaray until June 2025.

Galatasaray eye long-term future with Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen has been pivotal to Galatasaray’s early campaign, and his impressive form has only strengthened the club’s desire to extend his stay beyond next summer.

“Osimhen’s leaving in January is out of the question,” Hatipoğlu told NTVSpor. “In fact, we are making plans to have Osimhen play next season as well.

“Osimhen is a Galatasaray player until June. Discussing this is aimed at spoiling the pleasure of watching Osimhen. The player shows how devoted he is to Galatasaray in every match.”

Hatipoğlu hinted at the possibility of long-term plans with the striker, adding, “A person plays where he is happy. He has a contract with us until the end of the season. He is very happy to have come to Galatasaray. We should think about how he will be together with Osimhen in the following seasons.”

However, securing a permanent deal for Osimhen would be a financial challenge for Galatasaray. Napoli inserted a €75 million release clause in Osimhen’s contract, a fee well beyond the Turkish club's record transfer outlay of €18 million for Gabriel Sara.
