Turkish champions Galatasaray have joined the race to sign highly rated Nigerian midfielder Anthony Dennis from Goztepe this summer, Afrik-Foot reports.
Dennis has become one of the most sought-after Nigerian players in the transfer market amid growing uncertainty over his future at Goztepe. His current contract expires at the end of next season and with an extension looking increasingly unlikely, the club are hoping to cash in this summer rather than risk losing him for free in 2027.
The Kaduna-born midfielder initially joined Goztepe’s youth team in 2023 before earning promotion to the senior squad in 2024. He played a key role in helping the club secure promotion to the Turkish Super Lig during the 2024-25 campaign and has remained an important figure in the team ever since.
His impressive performances have attracted interest from several clubs across Europe. Trabzonspor have long admired the 22-year-old, while newly promoted Premier League side Coventry City are also monitoring his situation closely.

According to Footy-Africa, Galatasaray have now entered the race and are keen to complete a deal quickly. Goztepe have already rejected a €3.5 million bid from Trabzonspor, with the club valuing the midfielder at around €8 million.
That asking price is unlikely to hinder Galatasaray and there are several reasons why the Turkish giants have identified Dennis as one of their priority midfield targets.
Galatasaray need midfield reinforcements
Galatasaray are preparing for a busy summer transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad and build on their Champions League Round of 16 exit last season, while also maintaining their dominance in the Turkish Super Lig.
The midfield is one area that needs reinforcement. Dutch midfielder Noa Lang has returned to Napoli following the expiration of his loan spell after Galatasaray decided against making the move permanent.

Meanwhile, Mario Lemina’s future remains uncertain, with Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro reportedly interested in signing him as his contract nears its expiry.
It has increased Galatasaray’s need for another midfielder with Dennis seen as a major target and at just 22 years, he provides an immediate and long-term option for the club.
Experience in the Turkish Super Lig
Dennis’ familiarity with Turkish football is another reason Galatasaray are keen on adding him to their squad this summer.
The Nigerian midfielder has already spent two seasons in the Super Lig, making 63 league appearances and has missed only five matches during that period. His consistency and availability made him one of Goztepe’s most dependable players and would be very key for Galatasaray if he eventually joins them.
Dennis was a key figure in midfield as Goztepe recorded eighth and sixth-place finishes in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons respectively, establishing himself as one of the club’s standout performers.
His experience means he would require little time to adapt if he joins Galatasaray, which makes him an even more attractive option for the Turkish champions.

However, Goztepe face a major decision. With the Nigerian midfielder entering the final year of his contract, this summer could represent their last opportunity to receive a transfer fee.
A move to Galatasaray would also be a big step forward in Dennis’ career. It would see him play alongside countryman Victor Osimhen and also strengthen his chances of earning a Super Eagles call-up under Eric Chelle if he continues his impressive development.
