Galatasaray target Super Eagles star as Icardi’s successor amid Fenerbahce interest

Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has emerged as a potential replacement for Mauro Icardi at Galatasaray, Afrik-Foot reports.

Arokodare has been attracting interest from several clubs outside England, despite his stuttering start to the campaign.

The 25-year-old marksman has contributed six goals and two assists in 33 appearances across all competitions for Wolves amid their troubles this season.

Unfortunately for Arokodare, his goals have not been able to lift his side higher up the Premier League table. They currently sit rooted to the bottom of the division.

With Wolves set to go down, other clubs will be looking to raid them for some of their best talent in the summer. Arokodare is expected to be one of the primary exits.

There has been a lot of speculation linking him with a move to former Turkish champions Besiktas, but nothing concrete has emerged yet. Meanwhile, their close rivals are now interested and could swoop in for the Super Eagles striker.

According to a report by Turkish transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, Tolu Arokodare is a serious target for Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.

Galatasaray are set to part ways with Mauro Icardi at the end of the season, and Arokodare could be a potential replacement.

The Super Eagles star is good with his feet and a proper “fox in the box” type of striker.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahce will also need a prolific marksman. There is a good chance that Tammy Abraham will leave the club permanently, and Arokodare would be a sharp replacement.

Although Arokodare has not been at his best this year, his numbers from his days at Genk show that he is a quality player who will perform when given the right service.

However, it is unlikely that a permanent transfer will happen immediately due to the Nigerian’s valuation. The 25-year-old striker is valued at around €22 million, which is a steep fee for most Turkish clubs. As such, they might opt for a loan deal.

Wolves would likely be willing to do business because they need to shed some financial weight as they prepare for life in the Championship. Consequently, negotiating a deal should not be difficult.
