Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt has revealed the reason he played Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah as a midfielder on his debut, Afrik Foot reports.
The 28-year-old joined Gavin’s side after agreeing to mutually terminate his contract with Orlando Pirates.
That happened, largely because he struggled for playing time after a lenghty recovery from a leg fracture.

Stellenbosch FC: Gavin Hunt on why Ndah played as a midfielder
Roughly six weeks after penning a deal with the Stellies, Ndah was called upon, but this time in an unfamiliar role.
Hunt, previously on the book of Kaizer Chiefs, admitted that a lack of available options in the middle of the park forced his hand when preparing for the clash.
“You have to ask him [Ndah]; he’ll tell you, he’s a decent footballer. But he hasn’t played for a long time,” the 61-year-old said as per IOL.

“We don’t really have midfield players available. We had one on the bench, central midfield players, so I am going to play you there. It’s easier for you; you are not going to be under pressure,” the coach explained the conversation he had with Ndah.
“There’s a good old saying: don’t make too many changes to make a change. So, I just made one change and put him in.
“I think he took a little bit of time to get in there because the ball is a little bit quick, and when you haven’t played, you know, you lose the timing of the speed of the game,” the South African gaffer concluded.
