Galatasaray Women’s team have secured the signing of Super Falcons youngster Flourish Sabastine on a one-year contract from French side Stade de Reims Féminines.
The 19-year-old Nigerian international, born in 2004, joins the Istanbul club after impressive stints with Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens and Stade de Reims Féminines of France, where she had initially signed a two-year deal in 2023.
This year, Sabastine reunites with former Reims and Falconets teammate Tosin Demehin, who joined Galatasaray in September 2024.
A Super Falcons legend in the making
Sabastine first honed her skills with Unnich FA before making a name for herself at Bayelsa Queens. The former Nigeria youth international clinched the Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL) top scorer title, helping Bayelsa Queens to league success and a third-place finish at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.
A nominee for CAF’s 2022 Young Player of the Year, Sabastine has become one of Nigeria’s brightest young talents. She represented the West African gianst at the U20 World Cup in 2022 (4th place finish) and 2024 where Nigeria exited at the quarterfinal stage.
Sebastine was also one of four late call-ups for Nigeria’s friendly against 2011 world champions Japan in Kobe in October 2022.
Uphill task ahead for Sebastiane at Gala
Galatasaray Women, currently 6th in the Turkish Women’s Super League, sit six points behind leaders Fenerbahce with 12 points from five games.
In the UEFA Women’s Champions League, they face an uphill battle after back-to-back losses to Roma (1-6) and Lyon (0-3) in Group A, which also includes Wolfsburg. Sabastine will aim to make an immediate impact as Galatasaray seeks to improve its league and European standings.
