Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro is at the centre of an intriguing transfer battle between Inter Milan and Pisa Sporting Club following the end of the 2025/26 season, Afrik-Foot reports.
Pisa have officially activated their €7.5 million option to sign the 21-year-old permanently after his loan spell in Tuscany, according to Gianluca di Marzio. However, the deal is not yet completely settled because Inter Milan inserted a buy-back clause worth €8.5 million when the midfielder joined Pisa last summer.
The development means Inter now have the final say on Akinsanmiro’s immediate future. If the Nerazzurri activate the clause, they can bring him back to San Siro and decide whether he remains with the first team or heads out on another loan move in Serie A.

Inter Milan hold the key as Akinsanmiro’s rise continues
Akinsanmiro’s season with Pisa in his first full campaign in Serie A produced mixed emotions. While the Nigerian featured in 24 matches and registered one assist, he was unable to help the club avoid relegation from Serie A.
The adventure followed another important loan spell at Sampdoria during the 2024/25 Serie B season. There, he made 35 appearances, scoring once and providing an assist as he continued his development away from Inter.
Recall that the youngster’s football journey began at Alex Transfiguration Academy in Nigeria before he moved to Remo Stars FC in 2021. His performances quickly attracted Inter, who brought him to Italy and integrated him into their Primavera side.

Akinsanmiro impressed with Inter’s youth team, recording six goals and five assists in 42 appearances. Although he has yet to establish himself in the senior squad, the club’s decision to include a buy-back option showed how highly they rate his long-term potential.
Reports in Italy suggest Inter Milan are strongly considering triggering the €8.5 million clause, especially after Pisa’s relegation. Keeping Akinsanmiro in Serie A is viewed as the best route for his development, with several top-flight clubs already monitoring his situation.
Should Inter Milan exercise the clause, the most likely outcome is either integration into the senior squad or another loan to a stable Serie A side where he can continue gaining regular minutes. Remaining at Pisa in Serie B appears the least likely scenario, making the coming weeks crucial in determining the next chapter of the Super Eagles midfielder.
