Nigeria and Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has announced his social comeback in grand style by sharing snippets of his unreleased rap song.
The 27-year-old has been off social media for nearly a month now after he was abused and cyberbullied in the aftermath of Nigeria's defeat in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2024).
The Super Eagles were beaten 2-1 by hosts Ivory Coast in the final of the tournament, denying them a fourth continental crown.

Iwobi did not particularly enjoy an impressive game against the Elephants and was scapegoated by some fans, who thronged social media to hurl all sorts of abuse at the midfielder.
Iwobi returns to social media
The former Arsenal midfielder seemed to have been affected by the trolls and cyberbullying, and although his teammates leapt to his defence, he went off social media.
Iwobi subsequently deleted all his photos and videos on Instagram, sparking talks of a mental breakdown after the AFCON.
However, the Nigeria international has been playing well since returning to Fulham and has now announced his return to social media.
The midfielder shared an update of what he’s been up to by posting a one-minute, 33-second snippet of a rap song that he’s yet to release.
Iwobi teases fans with unleased rap song
Iwobi teased his followers with his rap bars, with the video reel capturing his recent on and off-field activities, including his highlights for both Fulham and Nigeria.
The content of the rap song also painted the picture of a footballer who was responding to his critics after the backlash that he received after Nigeria’s AFCON final loss.
“Never thought I’d make it, now when I step them be recognising the faces. Invitations I’ll be going out to different places,” Iwobi said at the beginning of the rap.
He continued midway: “Expressive with my soul, I couldn’t give a damn that they treated me like a disposable. Setbacks in the past but there’s so much I could show you.
“Everything was worth it, now look at me I’m global. They said I wasn’t good enough, damn Brady saying to my parents that I’m not so tough.”
Iwobi enjoying his football again
Iwobi enjoyed an impressive AFCON campaign with Nigeria and was ever-present in Jose Peseiro’s starting line-up as the Super Eagles reached the final.
Despite coming in for criticism by a section of the fans after the defeat to Ivory Coast, the midfielder has seen a new lease of life since returning to Fulham.
The former Everton man was the match-winner when the Cottagers recorded a surprise 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford last week.

Iwobi once again started in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion as Marco Silva’s side coasted to a comfortable 3-0 victory.
The 27-year-old has been involved in five goals and one assist in all competitions for Fulham this season, and has been one of the club’s key players in the ongoing campaign.
