South African club Kaizer Chiefs have been persistently linked with Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali for the last two years, but it appears the transfer may never happen, Afrik-Foot reports.
Since his performance at AFCON 2023, Nwabali has been linked with several top sides in Africa, including the Amakhosi, but nothing concrete emerged from the speculation.
When it was confirmed that the Super Eagles star had ended his stay at Chippa United earlier this year, Kaizer Chiefs was also touted as a potential destination.

It was believed that he would be signed due to Brandon Petersen’s injury, but nothing concrete emerged.
It is now five months since the Nigeria international became a free agent, but he is yet to secure a new team.
Although the talks surrounding a transfer to Kaizer Chiefs linger, in this article, we will explore two major reasons why the 30-year-old shot-stopper will likely not move to Soccer City.
Why Stanley Nwabali Will Not Join Kaizer Chiefs

Coming into this summer, Kaizer Chiefs had five goalkeepers: Fiacre Ntwari, Bruce Bvuma, Karabo Molefe, Takalani Mazhamba, and, of course, skipper Brandon Petersen.
But on July 6, they announced the signing of yet another goalie, Renaldo Leaner, taking their goalkeeper population to six.
This summer, it is unknown if the Amakhosi will let go of some goalies. But for sure, Petersen will remain there next season, and he will remain the number-one shot-stopper at the club.
At Chippa United, Nwabali was the first choice and a key player for the team. But he will be aware that he will not get regular minutes if he moves to Kaizer Chiefs.

For a player still harboring dreams of returning to the Super Eagles fold, a lack of consistent minutes will not do him any good. So, aside from how lucrative the offer is, he will also be targeting clubs where he can get regular playing time.
Two weeks ago, reports emerged about a possible transfer to a Saudi Arabian club. But nothing has emerged since then. So, as it stands, it is quite difficult to predict the Nigerian’s next destination.
