”It doesn’t matter” — Akor Adams reacts to match-winning assist for Sevilla after goal drought

Published on by

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams has expressed his satisfaction with Sevilla’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Getafe on Sunday, Afrik-Foot reports.

Adams was one of the heroes of the afternoon as his Los Nervionenses side battled hard to secure the win, even after Getafe were reduced to ten men midway through the first half.

While Sevilla struggled to create clear-cut chances for long periods, they finally found the breakthrough in the 64th minute with a well-worked goal.

From the right wing, Adnan Januzaj supplied a long pass to Adams, who was being tightly marked by a Getafe defender.

The Super Eagles star smartly flicked the ball into the path of Djibril Sow, who was positioned on the edge of the area. Sow made no mistake, striking a low shot into the bottom-right corner to make it 1-0.

Getafe had some dangerous looks late in the game, but they failed to find an equalizer, ensuring Los Nervionenses ran out with the 1-0 victory.

”It’s important that the team has achieved this victory, earning points in three consecutive matches,” Adams said, per the club’s official website.

“It doesn’t matter who scores; the important thing is that we accumulate points and keep a clean sheet. The work has been good from everyone. Now it’s time to think about next week.”

Before the trip to Getafe, Adams had been under pressure to get back among the goals and assists, having failed to register a goal contribution in his previous three outings. With Sevilla edging dangerously close to the relegation scrap, the striker’s input was vital.

The win at the Coliseum puts Sevilla in a much stronger position heading into the final 13 games of the La Liga campaign.

For Adams, the assist relieves some of the mounting pressure on his shoulders. Next up for Los Nervionenses is a highly anticipated clash against Real Betis.
