‘Break the Bank’ – Calls ring out as Lookman ascends with divine finish against Ranieri’s Roma

Ademola Lookman scored his 15th Serie A goal of the season as Atalanta edged AS Roma 2-1 in Bergamo on Monday night, sealing a return to the UEFA Champions League group stage.

The Nigerian international produced a performance that reignited conversations around his future, his role at the club, and the long shadow of his fallout with manager Gian Piero Gasperini earlier this season.

His stirke, his 20th goal contribution in the league, was another showcase of his creative instinct and close control.

Lookman’s divine strike sends fans into raptures

His deft finish sent social media into a frenzy, not just for its quality, but for what it represented.

One Italian fan, referencing AS Roma defender Devyne Rensch, wrote: “To say that Rensch was sent to the bar by Lookman’s feint is an understatement.”

Another praised his intelligence: “Ademola Lookman, what a great player. If you give him two seconds to turn around, you’re on the canvas.”

The 27-year-old’s growing importance was not lost on Atalanta fans either. Despite his contributions, tension from his Champions League disgrace earlier in the campaign still lingers.

One user reminded all: “Gasperini will regret the disrespect. The club will feel his absence when he leaves.”

As is tradition in the online space, a brilliant goal is never far from transfer talk. Arsenal fans, in particular, led the charge. All they demanded was for their club to break the bank for the former Everton youngster.

With performances like this, it’s clear why admirers are lining up. Whether Atalanta can keep him much longer remains to be seen.
