Lookman revels in ‘special moment’ after world-class display in Atalanta’s huge win

After a night of brilliance at the Gewiss Stadium, Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman reflects on a truly special moment for Atalanta following their impressive 6-1 victory over Hellas Verona in their Serie A clash.

The Nigerian winger delivered a performance that left not just Serie A fans but also Nigerians buzzing after showing off a world-class performance.

The matchday nine clash showed how deadly La Dea's attack can be, with Lookman playing a key role in a win that moved the team to 4th place on the league table.

Not only did he score twice, but he also provided two assists, effectively orchestrating the whole attack. 

His contributions included setting up Marten de Roon for the opening goal and assisting Charles De Ketelaere for the third. 

The remarkable winger then netted both the fourth and fifth goals to wrap up an unforgettable evening.

After the match, the Super Eagles star shared his thoughts with Sky Sport Italia, emphasising the team's exceptional first-half performance, where they netted five goals. 

Lookman also expressed gratitude for this monumental achievement, labelling it a special moment not only for him but for the entire club.

“Another good performance from the team. The first half was very, very good; we scored five goals, and everyone was top,” he said.

“It’s a massive moment for the club and also for me. A special, special moment. We made history last year; thanks to everyone, we continue to work hard and keep going,” he added.

With eyes set on future challenges, Lookman lauded his teammates for their outstanding effort against Hellas Verona. 

As he and head coach Gian Piero Gasperini prepare to attend the Ballon d'Or ceremony in France, Lookman is looking to pick up the award on Monday, while Gasperini vies for the Coach of the Year honour.
