Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman could become Nigeria’s second-highest scoring player in the UEFA Champions League when his Atletico Madrid side faces Barcelona, Afrik-Foot reports.
The Champions League is in its quarterfinal stage, with Europe’s elite locking horns to be crowned the new kings of the continent.
Unfortunately, there are not many stars left at this stage of the tournament. In fact, just one Super Eagles player remains—Ademola Lookman.

He faces an arduous and daunting task as his Atletico Madrid side takes on long-time nemesis Barcelona. In recent history, Los Rojiblancos have often struggled against the Blaugrana, but they will be looking to change things this time.
To give him even more impetus, he stands a chance of breaking a record.
Ademola Lookman Could Surpass Obafemi Martins

Ademola Lookman currently has seven career goals in the UEFA Champions League. He is just two goals behind retired Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins.
If he scores three goals against the Blaugrana, he will surpass him. Martins’ nine goals in the Champions League came during his time at Inter Milan.
For Lookman, his goals have come from his days at Atalanta and now at Atleti.
Since arriving at the Metropolitano, the Super Eagles star has registered five goals in 14 games and has proven to be a reliable attacking weapon.

Lookman will certainly fancy his chances against a Barca side that has leaked goals aplenty. He also has experience dealing with the Blaugrana, as he scored against them in the first leg of their Copa del Rey clash in February.
Over the two legs, two goals will draw him level with Martins, while three will see him become the second-highest scoring Nigerian in the competition’s history.
Meanwhile, superstar striker Victor Osimhen leads the pack with a distant 16.
