Nice forward Terem Moffi has shared his thoughts on the Super Eagles’ performance in their 2-2 draw against Poland on Wednesday, Afrik-Foot reports.
The three-time African champions came close to securing victory but were eventually held to an entertaining draw in an international friendly at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw, which also ended their two-game winning run.
Nigeria had won both of their matches at the Unity Cup just days earlier, beating Zimbabwe 2-0 in the semifinals before sealing a 3-0 win over Jamaica in the final to maintain their dominance in the competition.
Moffi, Tochukwu Nnadi, and Igoh Ogbu, who all started the win over Jamaica, were also included in the starting lineup against Poland. However, it was Moffi who made the early impact, opening the scoring when he tapped home after a low cross from Moses Simon. The goal was initially ruled out for offside but was later awarded after a review.

Poland responded just before half-time through Kacper Potulski as both sides went into the break with a 1-1 result. Nigeria regained the lead in the second half after VAR awarded a penalty for handball. Paul Onuachu, who had come on earlier, calmly converted from the spot to make it 2-1.
However, just when Nigeria looked set for victory, Przemysław Wiśniewski struck a powerful late effort to level the game for Poland and deny the Super Eagles.
Moffi explains Super Eagles’ game plan vs Poland
Terem Moffi enjoyed an impressive Unity Cup tournament with a goal and two assists in two games and was handed a starting role against Poland ahead of Paul Onuachu, partnering Akor Adams in attack.
The 27-year-old marked his 22nd appearance with a goal, finishing off a great move that also involved captain Wilfred Ndidi and Moses Simon.

Speaking after the match, Moffi acknowledged the quality of Poland and explained that Nigeria’s approach was to sit deep and exploit counterattacks.
“It was a difficult game for sure. They (Poland) are a top side. We had to stay low, to try to absorb the pressure and try a lot of counters out of possession”, Moffi said, via Ubuntu Pitch.
The 27-year-old also praised the team’s overall performance, despite narrowly missing out on victory, including his own contribution.
“I’m proud of myself, I’m really happy for myself and the team as well. We played really well. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the victory, but there are a lot of positives to take home.
“It was a top performance from the boys. A lot of positives to take home, and we’re proud of ourselves.”
The Super Eagles now face Portugal in their final game of the international window, marking their final match before attention shifts to the 2027 AFCON qualifiers in September.

Moffi believes the team will continue to improve and is hopeful of another strong attacking display if given the chance.
“When I play football, I try to score as many goals as possible and against Portugal it’s going to be difficult, but I’ll try to do my job”, he concluded.
Moffi’s future uncertain as Partizan Belgrade and Troyes circle
Terem Moffi’s club future remains uncertain heading into the summer transfer window. The striker spent the second half of the season on loan at Portuguese side FC Porto, but they opted not to make the move permanent, which would see him return to Nice.
However, there appears to be no future for him at Nice, especially following how he was treated towards the end of 2025 when he was assaulted alongside some of his teammates by sections of the club’s supporters after a league defeat.

Newly-promoted Ligue 1 club Troyes and Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade are both monitoring his situation, with interest growing ahead of the summer window. Moffi is currently valued at around €8 million according to Transfermarkt, although no decision has been made yet regarding his next move.
For now, his full focus remains on next week’s clash against Portugal, after which he is expected to make a clearer decision on his club future ahead of next season.
