German car firm Mercedes-Benz take legal action against Victor Osimhen

Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is at the centre of a lawsuit by German car brand Mercedes-Benz, Afrik Foot reports.

The 27-year-old is still basking in the joy of Galatasaray’s victory against Fenerbahce on Sunday, where he scored his first goal in over a month.

Still, he might be appearing in court over an unpaid car lease that occurred during his time in Italy.

Mercedes-Benz take legal action against Victor Osimhen

As per Il Giorno Italy, the German company have filed a criminal complaint against Victor Osimhen over an alleged unpaid leasing debt amounting to approximately €90,000 (144 million).

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Italia S.p.A. submitted a formal complaint in Milan, accusing the 2023 CAF Player of the Year of failing to meet payment obligations tied to a luxury vehicle leasing agreement.

The dispute centres on a Mercedes GLE hybrid SUV that Osimhen allegedly acquired under a leasing contract in 2023, while at Napoli.

Company representatives claim that the 27-year-old failed to make instalment payments under the agreement, resulting in accumulated arrears of around €90,000.

In addition to the alleged unpaid balance, it is further claimed that the vehicle was not returned at the expiration of the leasing term.

The accusation falls under alleged misappropriation, though neither Osimhen nor his representatives have publicly responded to the lawsuit as of now.

The development has raised eyebrows, given Osimhen’s financial standing in European football.

The 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner earned around €10 million per season in Italy before securing a lucrative move to Galatasaray in 2024, where his annual earnings rose north of €18 million.

Such figures make the reported dispute particularly striking, although contractual disagreements involving leasing firms are not uncommon in high-value asset agreements.

Osimhen is a flamboyant car lover. During his time in Naples, he was frequently seen driving a customised sky-blue Mercedes G-Class SUV, matching Napoli’s colours.

During the March International break, Osimhen was seen in Lagos, behind the wheel of a black Lamborghini Revuelto, the company’s first plug-in hybrid supercar, showing his exquisite taste in exclusive automobiles.
