Moses Simon has put himself in prime position to claim the inaugural ‘Top Passeur’ badge in the French Ligue 1, introduced by the league body to celebrate the league’s leading assist provider.
The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) unveiled this new award on February 5, extending its badge system that had previously recognized the competition's top scorer.
The ‘Top Passeur’ badge aims to highlight creativity and playmaking ability in Ligue 1. Paris Saint-Germain’s Joao Neves is currently the first player to wear the badge, having registered six assists in 16 matches. However, Simon is level with Neves on six assists, with only one more game played.

The Nigerian winger has been a key figure for Nantes, contributing to 11 league goals this season, including five goals and six assists.
He’s shown his skill and vision on the field with impressive performances against teams like Saint-Étienne, Rennes, and Montpellier, while his assists have come against clubs such as Lyon, Angers, and Brest.
Simon’s chance to claim the ‘Top Passeur’ badge
With Nantes set to face Brest this weekend, Simon has a golden opportunity to move ahead of Neves and become the second recipient of the ‘Top Passeur’ badge.
A couple of assists could see him leapfrog the PSG midfielder and establish himself as the league's leading playmaker.
This new recognition not only celebrates the top scorer but now also brings attention to the importance of assists and the creative minds driving their teams forward.
If Simon maintains his form, he could soon be wearing the badge, joining a growing list of players to be celebrated for their standout performances in Ligue 1.
