”Crazy seeing these boys play” — Nigerian football legend knocks Barcelona after Copa Del Rey exit

Super Falcons legend Asisat Oshoala has expressed her disbelief at Barcelona’s failure to qualify for the Copa del Rey final, despite the Catalan giants defeating Atletico Madrid 3-0 at the Camp Nou on Tuesday, Afrik-Foot reports.

After suffering a crushing 4-0 defeat to Atleti in the first leg of their semifinal clash last month, the Blaugrana faced an uphill task to reach the final.

In that opening encounter at the Estadio Metropolitano, Barcelona lacked both grit and desire. They looked vulnerable and were even lucky not to concede more than four goals.

Their attack was uncharacteristically blunt, with stars like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha kept quiet for most of the match.

However, the return leg at the Camp Nou was the exact opposite. Barcelona entered the contest with all guns blazing, scoring twice by halftime to put Atletico in a precarious position.

The Catalan giants pressed, probed, and pushed for the full 90 minutes, leaving Los Colchoneros with no room to breathe.

The statistics told the story of a complete mismatch: Barcelona recorded 71% possession, 21 goal attempts (nine on target), and 15 corners to Atletico’s zero. Nevertheless, Diego Simeone’s men managed to hang on, securing a very slim 4-3 aggregate victory.

Oshoala Questions Barcelona’s Mentality After Cup Exit

Barcelona’s relentless performance left many fans in awe. While Hansi Flick’s men were expected to attack, few anticipated they would be as unplayable as they were on the night.

After the final whistle, Super Falcons legend Oshoala—a six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year—took to social media to question the team’s consistency.

Oshoala, who enjoyed a highly successful six-season stint with the Barcelona Femení team, was baffled by the side’s failure to produce this level of intensity in the first leg, which ultimately proved to be their undoing.

”It’s actually crazy seeing these boys play like this today… how the hell did they concede 4 goals without putting 1 in during the first leg… like how??????” the Super Falcons star wrote on X.

Barcelona’s exit from the Copa del Rey means they now have only two competitions left to fight for this season: the UEFA Champions League and La Liga.

They currently sit in a strong position domestically, leading the league by four points over second-placed Real Madrid. Meanwhile, their European campaign resumes next week as they face Newcastle United in the Champions League Round of 16.
