Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has expressed his commitment to the team by declaring his readiness to play in any position assigned by the technical staff.

Austin Eguavoen‘s side will host the Mediterranean Knights in the first of two AFCON 2025 qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday, with the reverse fixture scheduled for October 15 at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium.

With a focus on teamwork and versatility due to his ability to play as a defensive midfielder and as an attacking midfielder, Ndidi stressed his willingness to support the squad in whatever way necessary.

Ndidi: Reinforcing team spirit and versatility ahead of Libya clash

In a recent interview with Brila FM, Ndidi made it clear that he prioritises the team's needs above all else.

“For me, it’s not my decision to say I want to play in this position,” he said. “I just leave it open to the managers and the coaches to actually decide where they want me to play,” he added.

“I’m very open to play in any position as long as it’s helping the team. So that’s me as a player, I’m very open to play in any position on the pitch.”

Assigned the role of attacking midfielder by new Leicester manager Steve Cooper, the 27-year-old has registered four assists in seven Premier League games. Similarly, he thrived in the same position under Cooper's predecessor, Enzo Maresca, in the Championship during the 2023/24 season.

“It was an amazing season because moving from Number 6 into a Number 8 was quite difficult in the first two games, but when I got comfortable, it became natural for me,” Ndidi said in an interview in May.
