Nigeria striker Boniface stars in viral skit ahead of AFCON

Nigeria striker Victor Boniface looks to be in a creative state of mind ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as he starred in a viral skit.

The Bayer Leverkusen hitman tag-teamed with skit maker Pepper Mouth to put a face to his entertaining side.

Boniface: football star & absolute troll

In recent months, fans have enjoyed the youngster's immense talent on the pitch as well as an endless stream of wits and banter across his social media platforms; a blend that has attracted him a vast amount of followers.

The viral video saw Pepper Mouth walk into a room where Boniface and his friends were relaxing. After exchanging pleasantries, the skit maker made a plea for financial assistance to the footballer. He was gracefully offered a good sum in return. However, it was turned down because the receiver felt that it was too small and that Boniface, a Bundesliga superstar, should be doing more. He cited the wages footballers earn weekly and returned the cash with the hope of receiving more but in an interesting twist, Boniface instead offered him a jersey and a pair of boots advising him to follow in his footsteps and hustle.

The video, posted yesterday Tuesday January 2, has gotten almost a million views with loads of engagements on his official X page.

Boniface expected to star at AFCON

The in-form Leverkusen striker has scored 16 goals in 23 appearances across all competitions so far this season and was included in the final Super Eagles AFCON squad for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

With the Super Eagles camp officially opened in Abu Dhabi, his attention switches to national team duty in hopes of replicating his club fortunes at the showpiece.

Coach Jose Peseiro, already having to make the difficult decision of dropping some key players ahead of the tournament, will be hoping that the four-time Bundesliga Rookie of the Month this season stay injury-free. Boniface will be vying for a regular starting spot as Nigeria trade tackles with hosts Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea in Group A.
