Plateau United midfielder Kazeem Adeyanju has completed a permanent transfer to Stellenbosch FC, ending his one-year spell in the NPFL.
The transfer hands the highly rated youngster an opportunity to continue his development in South African football.
The Betway Premiership club confirmed the acquisition on Monday, October 12, announcing that the 20-year-old had joined on a free transfer. The development comes after the two parties concluded the necessary formalities in September.
Kazeem could make his debut against Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday as Stellenbosch look to improve their start to the 2026/27 campaign.
The move makes him the fifth Nigerian player to represent the Stellies.
Here is everything you need to know about the transfer, Adeyanju’s profile, his career so far and the club he is joining.

Transfer done deal: What Stellenbosch said about Adeyanju
Stellenbosch announced the signing through an official club statement, confirming that the midfielder had arrived from NPFL’s Plateau United without a transfer fee.
“Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Nigerian midfielder Lateef Adeyanju Kazeem on a free transfer,” the club announced.
“Having concluded all formalities last month, Stellenbosch FC has bolstered its ranks with the acquisition of Lateef Adeyanju Kazeem, who most recently plied his trade in the Nigerian PFL with Plateau United.”
Kazeem will wear the No. 29 shirt at Stellenbosch and could be available for selection against Kaizer Chiefs.
The Nigerian attacker is one of 17 new signings joining Stellenbosch this summer, including Ghanaian goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi.
Who is Lateef Kazeem Adeyanju?
Born in Saki, a major commercial and agricultural city in Oyo State, Nigeria, on April 23, 2006, the new Stellenbosch FC midfielder is 20 years old.
Traditionally, an attacking midfielder, Adeyanju can also play on the left and right flank where his preferred left foot seeks to deliver the final pass to his teammates. He also has an eye for sensational goals, the kind that leaves fans stunned.
His versatility gives Stellenbosch an additional option in the attacking third, where creative midfielders are expected to connect the team’s midfield and forward lines.
Adeyanju’s previous clubs and career highlights
Adeyanju made his career breakthrough at Inter Lagos and sealed a move to NPFL club Plateau United ahead of the 2025-26 season.
The then-teenager made 24 league appearances in his debut campaign in the Nigerian top tier, scoring once and providing five assists.
Arguably, his most outstanding performance of the season came in Jos against Ikorodu City. Adeyanju stole the show with two assists and a fine goal in a 4-1 win. His other assists came against Enyimba, Niger Tornadoes and El Kanemi Warriors.
Overall, he helped Plateau United finished 10th on the league table last season.
Stellenbosch’s PSL standing
Stellenbosch enter the 2026/27 campaign looking to build on a period of significant progress.
The club currently sits seventh in the Betway Premiership with nine points from seven matches, having recorded two wins, three draws and two defeats.
Their early-season results have been mixed. They opened with a 1-0 home defeat to AmaZulu before drawing 3-3 away to Polokwane City. A 3-1 victory over Marumo Gallants delivered their first league win, but a subsequent 1-0 loss to Golden Arrows was followed by draws against Durban City and Sekhukhune United.
Stellenbosch responded with a 1-0 away victory over Kruger United before the recent break, with Keanan Johannesen scoring the decisive goal.
The club will hope to build on that result when they face Kaizer Chiefs, with Kazeem potentially available for selection.

Other Nigerians who have played for Stellenbosch FC
Kazeem is the fifth Nigerian player to represent Stellenbosch. He follows in the footsteps of Stanley Dimgba, Ibraheem Jabaar, Enyinnaya Kazie Godswill and Olisa Ndah, one of Orlando Pirates finest Nigerian imports.
Jabaar, particularly, enjoyed an extended spell with Stellenbosch after arriving in 2021. The former Nigeria youth international made 140 appearances for the club across all competitions, becoming its most-capped foreign player.
He also won the club’s Young Player of the Season award twice, in 2021/22 and 2024/25.
