In an action-packed Division 1 Féminine showdown, Super Falcons’ forward Ifeoma Onumonu struck twice for Montpellier HSC Féminines, delivering a stellar brace that kept her team in contention for much of the match.

Yet, despite her remarkable efforts, Montpellier faced a crushing defeat, falling 4-2 to Chiamaka Nnadozie‘s Paris FC on Saturday night.

Onumonu’s goals marked back-to-back scoring feats for the Nigerian star, securing her third goal of the season as she looks to build on her career in France’s top women’s league.

However, her impressive performance could not prevent Montpellier from leaving empty-handed, as Paris FC’s late strikes dashed their hopes of a comeback.

After a slow start to the season, the 30-year-old has hit her stride, scoring in two consecutive matches after a goalless opening stretch.

Her previous goal helped Montpellier to a 7-0 rout of Guingamp, where she netted within nine minutes to set the pace.

Bolstered by their recent victory over Guingamp, Onumonu and her teammates arrived in Paris with high hopes, seeking to carry forward their winning momentum.

However, a spirited Paris FC side had other plans, quickly breaking through Montpellier’s defence.

Maelle Garbino opened the scoring for Paris FC in the 11th minute, but Onumonu responded just 15 minutes later, levelling the score with precision.

The host team edged ahead before halftime with a goal from Kessya Bussy, setting the stage for an intense second half.

Onumonu's second goal came in the 80th minute, bringing Montpellier back to parity.

However, Paris FC’s Julie Dufour delivered two quick strikes within minutes to secure victory, leaving Montpellier and Onumonu’s brace overshadowed by the final result.

With this defeat, Montpellier sits seventh in the league standings, trailing Paris FC by four points.

They’ll look to regroup for their next encounter, hoping to capitalise on Onumonu’s form when they face Nantes on home turf on Friday.
