Osimhen shines with brace as Galatasaray fight to thrilling draw

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen was on target twice as Galatasaray played out a thrilling 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa in the Turkish Süper Lig on Sunday.

The Nigerian striker’s brace took his league tally to 16 goals this season, but Galatasaray’s title ambitions suffered a setback as they dropped crucial points.

He opened the scoring in the 11th minute, converting a penalty with composure after Galatasaray were awarded a spot-kick.

The first half ended with Galatasaray holding onto their 1-0 lead, but Kasimpasa came out stronger in the second half and found an equaliser in the 52nd minute through Mortadha Ben Ouanes.

The home side then turned the game around in the 61st minute when Josip Brekalo struck to put Kasimpasa ahead for the first time in the match.

However, Galatasaray responded swiftly. Davinson Sánchez drew them level in the 69th minute, before Osimhen restored their lead just two minutes later with his second goal of the game, making it 3-2.

Just when it seemed like Galatasaray would secure all three points, Haris Hajradinovic struck late from the spot to salvage a draw for Kasimpasa, ensuring the spoils were shared in an entertaining contest.

Victor Osimhen played the full 90 minutes, scoring twice as Galatasaray settled for a 3-3 draw, dropping crucial points in the title race.

The Super Eagles striker was a constant threat in attack, registering two shots on target, three off target, and having two attempts blocked.

Osimhen won a penalty but also missed a big chance, making a total of 33 touches throughout the game.

In possession, he completed eight of his 12 attempted passes, recording a 67% pass accuracy.

The former African Footballer of the Year was effective in duels, winning four of his eight aerial battles and securing two of the four ground duels he contested.
