Portugal vs Nigeria: Super Eagles striker looking to prey on key weakness in Ronaldo’s side

Published on by

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has opined that his knowledge of the Primera Liga could give Nigeria an advantage in their friendly game against Portugal, Afrik Foot reports.

The 27-year-old recently won the Portuguese league title with FC Porto, although he only scored two goals at the Estadio Do Dragao.

Moffi joined FC Porto on loan from OGC Nice in the winter transfer window after suffering racial and physical abuse from Nice fans in France. The deal included an option to make the deal permanent for €8m.

However, after contacting OGC Nice over the possibility of reducing the transfer fee, FC Porto have pulled out of the deal completely, meaning the striker will exit Francisco Farioli’s side when his loan deal expires at the start of July.

Moffi looking to give Super Eagles key advantage against Portugal

After spending six months with FC Porto, Moffi played alongside key members of the Portuguese team, like their goalkeeper Diogo Costa, while he played against the likes of Sporting CP’s Gonçalo Inácio and Francisco Trincão.

With that knowledge, Moffi hopes to give the Super Eagles an advantage by revealing the weaknesses and strengths of some of these players.

“I’ll try my best to lead the team as much as I can,” the 27-year-old told TVC News.

“I play in the Portuguese league, I was the champion with FC Porto. Although I played half a season with them, I think I know a bit of how the Portuguese national team plays, from their players.

“I’ll try to help the team as much as possible,” the Super Eagles striker concluded.

Can Moffi influence Portugal vs Nigeria clash?

The OGC Nice loanee appears to have found form of late, scoring in the Unity Cup tournament and in the friendly win over Poland last week.

With his goalscoring boots on, he can help the Super Eagles peg Roberto Martinez’s side back.

Additionally, some info from him could lift the dressing room spirits as to how the Portuguese side set up tactically, giving Chelle’s the advantage at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa.
