Borussia Dortmund midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has expressed his delight after scoring on his international debut for Austria, Afrik-Foot reports.
Two weeks ago, news broke that Chukwuemeka had shifted his international allegiance from England to Austria.
The former Chelsea star was a player with dual nationality. He was born to Nigerian parents in Austria before moving to England as a child. As such, he was eligible to represent all three nations.

While the 22-year-old represented England at the youth level, breaking into the Three Lions’ senior squad proved difficult given the talent depth in the midfield.
Nigeria had also kept a close watch on the playmaker, making several moves to convince him to don the green and white of the Super Eagles.
However, Chukwuemeka ultimately opted for the land of his birth. Austria coach Ralf Rangnick wasted no time, naming the Dortmund man in his latest squad and handing him a second-half debut in a friendly against Ghana on Friday.
With Austria already three goals up, Chukwuemeka joined the party, netting the fourth goal in a commanding 5-1 victory.

Reflecting on his dream debut, Chukwuemeka was all smiles. Despite being an Aston Villa academy graduate who does not yet speak German - the official language of Austria - the midfielder insisted he already feels at home in the Austrian setup.
”It’s a fantastic feeling; few words can describe this moment,” Chukwuemeka told Sky Sport.
“When the ball hit the back of the net, I couldn’t believe it. I want to do it all over again immediately. I’ve felt incredibly welcome here. We got off to a great start, scored early, and just kept going. It feels more like a family than a team.”
A Blow for Nigeria?

Missing out on a talent like Chukwuemeka is undoubtedly a blow for Nigeria. His ball-carrying ability and impressive work rate would have added a unique dimension to the Super Eagles’ midfield.
Nonetheless, Nigeria is a nation famous for its conveyor belt of talent. With the presence of players like Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who have similar dynamic qualities as Chukwuemeka, the Super Eagles remain well-stocked in the middle of the park.
While Chukwuemeka’s choice is a loss for Nigeria, the Super Eagles will definitely continue to move forward.
