Nigeria vs Ivory Coast: Super Eagles confirmed lineup for AFCON 2024 final

Published on by Kelechi Udoka, updated on

The Super Eagles confirmed lineup for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2024) final is out, and José Peseiro has made two major changes to his starting XI.

Zaidu Sanusi is back in action for Nigeria after missing the semi-final against South Africa. The FC Porto player had a late fitness test ahead of the AFCON final but was cleared to play.

Sanusi replaces Fenerbahce's Bright Osayi-Samuel in the Super Eagles starting XI.

Also, Samuel Chukwueze earned a place on Peseiro's starting lineup. The AC Milan player replaces Moses Simon, who performed abysmal in the semi-final against South Africa's Bafana Bafana.

Peseiro has stuck with his trusty 3-4-3 formation, with Stanley Nwabali starting between the sticks.

The Chippa United goalie is competing for the Golden Glove with Bafana Bafana's Ronwen Williams, who has more clean sheets (5) than Nwabali (4) at this tournament.

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen will lead the attack, alongside Ademola Lookman, who is still in contention for the Golden Boot.

Lookman trails Equatorial Guinea's Emilio Nsue by two goals, so he'll need to score a couple of goals in order to win the highly-coveted AFCON Golden Boot.

There's a lot at stake here, as Nigeria and Ivory Coast will compete for the Nations Cup title.
