Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche has been removed from Crystal Palace’s UEFA Conference League squad, Afrik-Foot reports.
Things have not been going well for Uche since his loan move from Getafe to Crystal Palace last summer.
At the time of the move, he was one of the brightest young stars in Spain and was expected to be a key player for the Eagles following the exit of Eberechi Eze to Arsenal.

Unfortunately, that has not been the case. He has struggled for game time at the club, with coach Oliver Glasner limiting his minutes. Although he has featured in 21 games this season, most of these appearances have come off the bench. The only competitions in which he has earned starts are the FA Cup and the UEFA Conference League.
In fact, indicating that the club does not see him as a primary starter, they spent over €80 million to acquire attackers such as Brennan Johnson from Tottenham and Jørgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
New Crystal Palace Signings Cost Christantus Uche UECL Spot
The new attacking signings at Crystal Palace have directly impacted Christantus Uche, as the 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been removed from the club’s squad for the UEFA Conference League. This was confirmed via the Conference League website.
In his place, players like Strand Larsen, Johnson, and several academy players have been added. This marks a new low for the Super Eagles star and serves as a stark reminder that he is not currently viewed as a key player at the club.

This move by the Eagles comes as a surprise, given that Uche has scored two goals in four appearances in the competition. Fans will certainly not forget the worldie he scored against Finnish club KuPS in their final group stage game.

Will Christantus Uche Leave Crystal Palace?
Christantus Uche’s loan move to Crystal Palace included a conditional obligation-to-buy clause. To activate the clause, he must start 10 games; however, the Super Eagles star has only started three games so far this season.
With only a handful of matches remaining and intense competition for places, it is highly unlikely he will reach the required 10 starts.

Consequently, he will likely return to his parent club, Getafe, at the end of the campaign. On the other hand, coach Oliver Glasner is set to leave the club at the end of the season, and Uche’s former coach, José Bordalás, has been linked with the Palace job.
Given the close relationship between the two, Bordalás could make Uche an important part of his plans and push for the club to sign him permanently regardless. Moreover, Getafe need the funds from Uche’s sale to meet La Liga’s financial demands.
