Nigeria forward Moses Simon has expressed confidence in the Super Eagles' ability to secure a spot in secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite recent challenges in the qualification process.
The three-time African champions are currently in fifth place in their six-team group, having earned just three points from their first four matches. in a group that includes Rwanda, Benin, South Africa, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe.
Under José Peseiro, the Super Eagles were held to consecutive draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe last year. Following Peseiro's departure, interim coach Finidi George oversaw a draw against South Africa and a surprising defeat to Benin.
With key players missing from the last round of qualifiers, Simon — who was sidelined for June's fixtures due to injury — believes their return will significantly strengthen the team’s chances.

Despite setbacks in the qualification process, Simon remains optimistic that the Super Eagles have what it takes to compete at the highest level.
“We have the quality, we have what it takes to win,” the 29-year-old told BBC Sport Africa.
“We don't believe that we are not going to the World Cup.
“The last qualifying games, we missed regular players and I believe they'll be there next year to help the team.”
The Super Eagles would have to win at least five of their remaining games to qualify for the Mundial.
Since Augustine Eguavoen took over as interim manager, the Super Eagles have shown impressive form, winning three matches and drawing one. This strong run has secured their qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
