Former Super Eagles and West Bromwich Albion full-back Ifeanyi Udeze has revealed he’ll be throwing his weight behind DR Congo at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Afrik Foot reports.
Nigeria defeated Gabon in the first play-off semi-final before falling short against Congo on penalties.
The NFF filed an appeal regarding the ineligibility of some players on the Congolese team for holding dual passports.
FIFA dismissed the complaint, and DR Congo were given the go-ahead. Yesterday, Congo confirmed a return to the World Stage for the first time since 1974 after defeating Jamaica with a slender 1-0 win.

Ifeanyi Udeze out to support DR Congo at the World Cup
The two-time Greek Cup winner admitted that his support for Sebastien Desabre’s team is for the Super Eagles player to realise what they missed by not stepping up in their World Cup qualifiers.
I am supporting DR Congo to be at the World Cup because I want the Super Eagles players to understand,” the 45-year-old told Brila in quotes revealed by Complete Sports.

“They need to understand what it means to qualify for a big tournament like the World Cup, especially seeing that the team that knocked you out eventually picked the ticket.
“So, I’m supporting DR Congo and I’m wishing them all the best,” Udeze concluded.
