Super Eagles: Femi Azeez’s market value soars after excelling for Nigeria and Millwall

Published on by

Millwall winger Femi Azeez has been rewarded for an outstanding season with a new market valuation of €15 million, making him one of the most valuable Nigerian players outside Europe’s top leagues, Afrik-Foot reports.

It is a huge rise for a player who was signed by Millwall from Reading in 2024 for around £1 million and has steadily developed into one of the EFL Championship’s most dangerous attacking players.

The latest Transfermarkt valuation confirms what has been a breakthrough campaign for the 24-year-old, both at club level and on the international stage with Nigeria.

Azeez entered the 2025/26 campaign with plenty to prove. By the time the season ended, he had established himself as one of the Championship’s standout performers.

Millwall finished third in the league and narrowly missed out on automatic promotion, with Azeez playing a major role throughout the campaign. His pace, direct running and ability to create chances made him a constant threat to defenders.

Across 37 Championship appearances, he scored 11 goals and provided eight assists while clocking up 2,992 minutes of football. Those numbers earned him a place in the Championship Team of the Season and attracted attention from clubs across the Premier League.

His rise has been so dramatic that Millwall reportedly rejected a £20 million bid from newly promoted Ipswich Town. With his contract running until 2028, the London club are believed to value him closer to £30 million.

That growing interest has helped push his market value to a career-high €15 million, making him the most valuable player at Millwall and one of the Championship’s biggest success stories.

Record Super Eagles debut at Unity Cup for Azeez

While his club form laid the foundation, Azeez’s first taste of international football helped take his profile to another level. After choosing to represent Nigeria ahead of England and Spain, he was handed an opportunity by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle during the Unity Cup in London.

Azeez wasted no time making an impression. On his senior debut in the semi-final against Zimbabwe, he scored both goals in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory. It was the perfect introduction to international football and instantly made him one of the stories of the tournament.

He followed that performance with another influential display in the final against Jamaica, where he provided an assist as the Super Eagles lifted the trophy.

Scoring twice on debut and helping Nigeria win a tournament gave scouts and analysts further evidence that his development is accelerating quickly. It is no surprise that his valuation received another significant boost after those performances.

Why Azeez could become key for the Super Eagles

The most exciting aspect for Nigeria may not be Azeez’s current value but what he could offer in the years ahead. The Super Eagles already possess established attacking stars such as Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze. Yet Azeez brings qualities that make him different.

He is comfortable operating on either wing, can play behind a striker and is effective when attacking space on the counter-attack. During the Unity Cup, Chelle even used him in central areas, where his movement and intelligent positioning caused problems for defenders.

His crossing ability could make him an ideal supplier for Osimhen and Akor Adams, while his work rate without the ball fits the intense pressing style Chelle wants from his team.

Perhaps most importantly, Azeez gives Nigeria another source of goals from wide positions. His two-goal display against Zimbabwe showed he can arrive in dangerous areas and finish chances when they matter most.

Azeez, for many years, was viewed as a promising talent trying to establish himself in English football. Today, he is a €15 million player, one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising stars and a footballer who looks increasingly capable of becoming a major figure in the Super Eagles setup.

If his progress continues at the same speed, both Millwall and Nigeria could soon discover that his current valuation is only the beginning.
