Super Eagles and Fulham defender Calvin Bassey has rued his miss in their goalless draw against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, Afrik Foot reports.
On the 26-year-old’s fifth start since the end of the AFCON 2025 tournament, Bassey came close to finding the back of the net in the 20th minute.
Bassey headed towards the goal from Alex Iwobi’s free-kick, but his effort was straight at Mats Sels.

Calvin Bassey rues his missed chance in Fulham’s draw vs Forest
The Cottagers dropped points at the City Ground, and as such, dropped into the bottom half of the English Premier League table, as their European ambitions took a big hit.
While the home side had more chances as the game went on, Bassey’s goal could have changed the outcome of the final result; hence, his annoyance with himself that he couldn’t put the ball into the back of the net.
“It was a big chance. I wasn’t sure if I was on or off. I timed it well, but just hit it straight at the ‘keeper.
“I think I’ve got to pick a side, I’ve got to do a lot better. I think it’s got to be a goal, in my opinion,” the former Rangers defender said in quotes revealed by Fulham’s official website.

“Both teams had to deal with the conditions – the pitch, the wind. It was a difficult game, I feel like we grew into it, we tried to manage the situations as best we could, we knew that we had to cover each other, because anything could happen.
“I don’t think our quest for European football is ruled out. We take each game as it comes, anything can happen.
“I haven’t had a chance to look at the table and see where the other teams are at. The most important thing was that we didn’t lose this game, and we didn’t lose the game.
“We just take each game as it comes, and hopefully things will work in our favour as well,” Calvin Bassey concluded.
