Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah delivered a commendable performance as the Orlando Pirates romped to a 3-0 victory against Polokwane City in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday night, earning himself the coveted Man of the Match award.
Coming off two straight wins—a narrow 1-0 win over Jwaneng Galaxy in the CAF Champions League qualifiers and a 2-1 win against Chippa United in the league—the Pirates were looking to maintain their momentum.
The first half, however, was a cagey affair, with both teams struggling to create clear chances, and they headed into halftime locked at 0-0.
But the Pirates came out of the break with renewed energy that brought the game to life, breaking the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half. An Evidence Makgopa brace inside the final 10 minutes served to confirm not only the result, but their dominance on the night as well.
Olisa Ndah's man of the match performance
Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah was instrumental in the win, putting out an impressive defensive workrate with a commanding display. Despite being subbed off in the 84th minute for Nkosinathi Sibisi, the 26-year-old had already made his mark.
His stats spoke volumes: 61 touches, over 39 accurate passes, including five clearances, two recoveries, and three aerial duels won.
The Pirates dominated in all aspects of the game, with 13 attempts on goal to Polokwane's four, none of which were on target, and Ndah’s leadership at the back ensured the visitors never found their footing.
With this win, the Orlando Pirates remain unbeaten in all competitions this season and have claimed victory in their last six home matches.
They’ll face Richards Bay in another league clash as they continue their charge to the top of the table.
