Porto forward Samu Omorodion expressed his delight after scoring his first goal for the club in their 2-1 win over Farense at the Estádio do Dragão on Sunday.
The Spain U21 international, who is still eligible for Nigeria's Super Eagles, scored the decisive goal for FC Porto in the 75th minute, securing a win for the hosts after his teammate Galeno's 48th-minute opener was equalised by Farense's Tomane in the 51st minute.
The 20-year-old signed with the Portuguese giants in August, in a transaction where the club acquired 50% of the player’s economic rights for €15 million.
The agreement includes a five-year contract running until 2029 and features a €100 million release clause. Additionally, Porto holds two non-mandatory options to purchase an extra 15% of the player's rights for €5 million each.
Before joining Porto, the 20-year-old was on the brink of a €40 million transfer to Premier League side Chelsea.
Samu Omorodion credits fan support after breaking Porto duck
Speaking after the match, Omorodion acknowledged the support of the fans at the Estádio do Dragão.
“I am very happy, first of all for the team’s victory,” he told the club's official website.
“I would like to thank all the fans who came to support us at the Dragão. It is an inexplicable feeling to play at the Dragão, in front of our fans. I am very happy with my first goal in an FC Porto jersey and for having contributed to the victory.”
Not only did the Super Eagles hopeful score the decisive goal to secure the victory for his club, but he also emerged as the club's standout performer, having come on as a substitute for Iván Jaime in the 64th minute.
The goal on Sunday marked Omorodion's first in two appearances for Porto since his arrival.
