Super Eagles star dreams of Premier League move

Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has affirmed his strong desire to play in the Premier League, stating that it is “definitely” part of his plans.

However, clubs may need to wait to sign the 25-year-old who recently extended his contract with Napoli, including a release clause of £112million.

The new contract is set to expire in 2026. Yet, potential suitors are expected to continue pursuing him—English Premier clubs Chelsea and Arsenal are among the list of teams chasing after the reigning African Player of the Year signature.

Osimhen's statement on De Laurentiis

Osimhen recently discussed his future with Napoli, expressing his contentment to stay with the Serie A club. With 67 goals in 119 appearances for Napoli, the striker conveyed that he enjoys the full support of club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

“I am happy with the president (De Laurentiis),” Osimhen told the media “I have an excellent relationship with him, I am sincere. I have a really good relationship with him, he has always been close to me since I arrived at Napoli in 2020 and I also have an excellent relationship with his family.”

Mamuka Jugeli proven wrong?

Osimhen was recently engaged in a public altercation with the agent of his teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Mamuka Jugeli, the agent, questioned the commitment of the Nigerian to the Italian club and suggested that his player, Kvaratskhelia, was more dedicated to Napoli than Osimhen.

Despite his desire to play in the Premier League, Osimhen is in no rush to fulfill that dream, indicating that any potential bidders should hold off on their plans.

“Of course one day, definitely,” he told Sky Sports when asked if he wants to play in the Premier League.

“But for now, I have other plans in my career that I am looking forward to. So when the time comes, everyone knows.”

Osimhen attracting Real Madrid

Media reports also suggest that Real Madrid are interested in acquiring the services of Osimhen.

The Spanish giants are also reportedly looking to conclude their protracted pursuit of PSG and France star Kylian Mbappe.

Osimhen wants to win AFCON with Super Eagles

Osimhen has reaffirmed his ambition to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Napoli player scored when the Super Eagles drew with Equatorial Guinea in their Group A opener.

“I have done that with Napoli, I have made history, but no matter what I do, no matter how many goals I have scored, to be able to win the AFCON, I would go a long way in my life but probably when I do that I am done,” he admitted.

“I am really looking forward to winning something with the Super Eagles.”

The Super Eagles will play Ivory Coast on January 18 in a must-win encounter.
