The Super Falcons’ historic Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title continues to earn recognition.

The latest is via the 2025 Ballon d’Or shortlists, which were released on Thursday. Considered the most prestigious awards in football, the diadems handed out by France Football year aim to reward excellence in the sport.

Two members of the victorious Super Falcons contingent to Morocco have been rewarded with nominations.

Which Super Falcons have been nominated for 2025 Ballon d’Or?

In contention for the Women’s Yachine award for best goalkeeper of the year is Nigeria shotstopper Chiamaka Nnadozie.

The Brighton star has gotten the nod off the back of four clean sheets at the 2025 WAFCON, where she was given the Golden Glove award as well, as well as stellar performances for former side Paris FC, with whom she reached cup glory in France.

The second nominee for a Ballon d’Or award is, however, not a player. Interim Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu has been nominated for the Johan Cruyff Women's Team Coach of the Year trophy.

It caps a memorable year for Madugu, who despite going into the WAFCON without a contract, led Nigeria to a tenth African title, memorably leading a comeback from two goals down in the final against the host nation.
