Super Falcons stars Monday and Babajide shine in Tenerife’s victory over Sevilla

Super Falcons duo Gift Monday and Rinsola Babajide found the back of the net as UD Tenerife secured a crucial 2-0 away victory over Sevilla in a Spanish Primera Federación clash at the Ramón Cisneros Palacios Ciudad Deportiva on Sunday.

Babajide opened the scoring for the visitors in the ninth minute. Despite Sevilla's relentless pressure, UD Tenerife managed the game expertly, holding their lead into the break.

The early stages of the second half mirrored the first, with Sevilla increasing their attacking efforts in search of an equaliser. However, Tenerife's defence remained resolute, thwarting every attempt from the hosts to break.

Monday sealed the victory for Tenerife with a clinical strike in the 56th minute, securing all three points for the Adeje-based side. The win propelled UD Tenerife up to sixth place in the standings, with 26 points from 17 matches.

The victory marked Eder Eguia's side's second consecutive win, following their 1-0 triumph over Madrid CFF last weekend.

Monday played a pivotal role in Tenerife's 2-0 victory over Sevilla, showcasing her attacking prowess and technical skills. The Super Falcons forward registered one shot on target, which resulted in her goal, and also took one shot off target.

Monday’s dribbling was effective, completing two out of five attempts. She was involved in 29 touches and was accurate with 15 out of 17 passes, achieving an impressive 88% pass accuracy.

Additionally, her physical presence was felt as she won four out of eight ground duels, contributing both offensively and defensively.

Rinsola Babajide's POTM performance

RBabajide was instrumental in Tenerife’s vital away win, delivering a standout performance that earned her the title of the match's most valuable player.

The 26-year-old registered one shot on target, which resulted in a goal, and had another shot off target. She played a crucial role in the team’s attacking play, providing the assist for Monday’s goal.

Babajide was involved in 22 touches and showcased her precision with eight out of nine accurate passes, achieving an impressive 89% pass accuracy. She also created two key passes, including one big chance, underlining her ability to unlock the opposition’s defence.

On the defensive side, Babajide won four out of seven ground duels and made two tackles, contributing to Tenerife’s solid performance throughout the game.
