Nigerian teen sensation Zadok Yohanna has spoken clearly about talks linking him with a call-up to the Super Eagles ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup in England, Afrik-Foot reports.
The 18-year-old AIK Fotboll winger confirms that there is nothing official yet, despite growing rumours in Nigerian media.
In recent days, several outlets suggested that the teenager had been included in coach Eric Chelle’s squad for the four-nation Unity Cup, which will be played at The Valley. The tournament is expected to feature Jamaica, Zimbabwe, and India, alongside Nigeria.
However, both Yohanna and his Swedish club have now dismissed those claims. Speaking to Sportbladet, Yohanna explained that he has only seen the reports online and has not received any direct communication from the Nigeria Football Federation.

“It’s not official yet, I don’t know … I’ve seen it on social media, but I don’t know,” Zadok said.
When asked if the Nigerian federation had contacted him, he responded: “No, not yet. But I hope they call me.”
His comments were backed up by AIK’s sporting director, Miika Takkula, who also confirmed that the club has not been approached.
“I have heard the rumours but I have not received any official contact from their federation. We will see if it comes and if so, take it from there,” Takkula said.
“First of all, we have to wait for contact from the Nigeria Football Federation and then see what the situation looks like. But it is only speculation.”

Yohanna: Nigerian teen attracting Europe’s biggest clubs
Even without a confirmed international call-up, Zadok Yohanna’s rise has been one of the most exciting stories of the 2026 season. Since joining AIK from Ikon Allah Academy, the young winger has quickly become one of the standout players in Sweden.
He has already recorded eight goal involvements, five goals and three assists, in 11 matches across all competitions since arriving last summer, as per Transfermarkt. In the current league season alone, he has scored twice and provided two assists in just six appearances, showing impressive efficiency for a player of his age.
On Sunday, he once again showed his quality by scoring in the ninth minute to help AIK secure a 1-1 draw against IF Elfsborg.
Earlier in the year, he also made headlines on his debut by scoring a dramatic 83rd-minute winner against Halmstads BK after beating two defenders with quick footwork. His fast, skillful, and direct style has led to comparisons with top players and earned him nicknames like the ‘Nigerian Lamine Yamal.’

Unsurprisingly, his performances have caught the attention of major European clubs. Teams such as Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Chelsea are all believed to be monitoring his progress closely, with AIK reportedly placing a valuation of between €20 million and €25 million on the teenager.
Despite the growing hype, Yohanna remains calm about his future and understands that any potential international call-up will depend not just on him, but also on his club. The Unity Cup does not fall within the official FIFA calendar, meaning AIK would have the final say on whether he can travel.
“It’s not up to me, it’s up to the club. If I get selected but AIK says I’m going to stay, I’ll stay, there’s no problem,” he explained.
The youngster could further boost his growing profile when AIK host Djurgården on Sunday.
