Top 5 most valuable Nigerian players in Portugal: Porto’s Moffi leads

Published on by

Nigerian footballers continue to make their mark in Portugal’s top division, the Primeira Liga, Afrik-Foot reports.

This season, a mix of experienced players and young talents have stood out, both in performance and market value. At the top of the list is Terem Moffi, who is currently on loan at FC Porto from OGC Nice.

Following the latest Transfermarkt update, Super Eagles forward Moffi remains the most valuable Nigerian player in the league, valued at around €10 million. Although he has not been a regular starter every week, he has still made an impact with important goals across competitions. His strength, movement, and finishing ability make him a dangerous striker. If he finishes the season strongly, especially in European matches, he could attract interest from bigger clubs. There is also a strong chance he could push for a permanent move to Porto if he proves his worth before the summer.

Another key name is Zaidu Sanusi, also at Porto. The left-back has been one of the most consistent Nigerian players this season. Known for his pace and defensive discipline, Sanusi has featured regularly and helped his team keep several clean sheets. At 28, he is experienced and reliable, though his market value of €3 million is likely to remain stable unless a major club comes in for him.

Young striker Ejike Opara is another player to watch. Currently linked with Vitória Guimarães, he has spent much of the season gaining experience on loan. Despite limited time in Portugal’s top flight, his performances elsewhere show promise. At just 20, he represents the future and could see his value rise above it’s current €1 million with more first-team opportunities.

Beyond the big names, two wingers, Abraham Marcus and Tunde Akinsola, have quietly built solid seasons with their clubs. Interestingly, both attackers are valued at €800,000.

Marcus, who plays for C.F. Estrela da Amadora, has been one of the most productive Nigerian players in the league this season. With 5 goals and 5 assists in 24 matches, he has shown creativity, pace, and an eye for goal. His journey has not been straightforward, having played across different clubs and levels, including time with Porto’s reserve team. But now, he looks settled and confident. If he maintains this form, his value could rise above €1 million, and he may attract interest from bigger teams in Portugal or beyond.

Akinsola, playing for AVS Futebol SAD, is still developing but has shown promise. With over 1,800 minutes played this season, he has been trusted by his team. While his numbers, one goal and one assist, may seem modest, his work rate and consistency are important. Having already played in Spain with Real Valladolid, he has valuable experience that could help him grow further. A strong finish to the season could boost his reputation and market value.

Looking ahead to the 2026 summer transfer window, all five players have something to play for. Moffi will aim to secure a permanent deal or attract elite clubs. Sanusi could maintain his steady role or explore a late-career move. Opara will hope for more visibility and a breakout moment. Meanwhile, Marcus and Akinsola need consistency to push their careers to the next level.
