Werder Bremen head coach Daniel Thioune has revealed that Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface could be set for a return earlier than expected, Afrik Foot reports.
The 25-year-old recently returned to team training with Die Werderaner after four months out of action.
Despite being initially ruled out of the season, he’s been tipped to be back on the pitch in the final week of this month.

Werder Bremen boss makes turn-around comment about Victor Boniface
Upon the striker’s return from Bay Arena’s rehabilitation centre, the Werder boss mentioned Boniface would be an option along the line in their fight to stay in the Bundesliga.
“For me, that offers another option, but not yet for this weekend.
“In the next few weeks we will play against teams on equal terms and if we can let Victor play for a few minutes, then that can help us a lot and be a win for us,” the German tactician said as previously reported by Afrik Foot.

Coach Thioune has now retracted his words, claiming he could field the Nigerian sooner than planned.
“The truth is that we assumed that Victor will return to us in a better physical condition,” the former Hamburg coach said in quotes revealed by Deichstube.
“In a normal world, we’re a few days early. I would therefore now rule out that Victor will join the bus in Cologne on Saturday.
“Our staff ceiling on the offensive side is very thin. If a squad seat should still be available, it may be that he [Boniface] accompanies us,” the 51-year-old concluded.
